Potomac and Shenandoah River Fishing Report

Potomac and Shenandoah River Fishing Report 5/13 & 5/20

I fished the Potomac 5/13 and found them shallow in the backs of marinas and along marsh banks.  The males were near bedding areas and guarding fry and some were off the beds and on marina pilings in 3-5'.  A senco and a spinning rod were the key.  6lb P-Line CXX Moss Green and a 3/0 Gamakatsu Skip Gap with a 5" Senco were the chosen tackle pieces.  We caught 8 largemouth, largest was around 4lb.

I fished the Shenandoah 5/20 and the smallmouth were on a 1/4oz and 1/2oz rattletrap bite.  The water was a little high and stained and the smallmouth were chasing.  A few largemouth were caught by pitchin BayBass Bugs to downed trees downriver near the dam.  We caught 9 smallmouth and 3 largemouth.  Largest was 14"
